Behind Biella Yarn stands the family-operated company Südwolle.

Südwolle Gebr. Steger OHG was founded in 1966. In 1972 the company’s first spinning mills were built in southern Germany. In 1997 the acquisition of Textilgruppe Hof (TGH AG) helped broaden the company’s portfolio to include technical textiles as well as dyeing and finishing facilities. In the '90s, international expansion began and Südwolle has developed and entered new markets ever since.

In 2000 Biella Yarn by Südwolle was founded in Italy, uniting the tradition and experience of Südwolle with fresh ideas and contemporary creations for the knitting yarn market.
